What a rough year this has been. When we turned the corner to this next decade, the world seemed to be moving faster than ever before. We were all so hopeful that the new decade would bring a fresh start and the prospects for a bright future were soaring.
⏸️ And then… we hit pause.
First, our most exciting plans were cancelled. Concerts, shows, sports, entertainment.. gone. Then, the reality of a global pandemic and the risk to our loved ones hit many of us hard. Way too hard.
And although the promise of a vaccine on the horizon are looking up, we are entering the worst phase of this pandemic so far. The risk to many of our most vulnerable population is at an all time high.
For now, the only thing we can do to protect those at the highest risk is to isolate ourselves and reduce asymptomatic spread of this virus. However, it is widely recognized that this is taking an enormous toll on our collective mental health. Many of us have never felt so lonely, and the risk of anxiety, depression, and addiction is also at its highest.
For us, it has been hard to know how to approach creating and releasing music in these dark times. We have struggled with the decision whether to release a song called “Feel Alive” in the midst of a global pandemic which is taking so many lives.
However, we have also recognized that the power of music is greatest in the darkest of times. Music lifts us up, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically (we dance!).
We need music now more than ever when our usual opportunities to “Feel Alive” are just not there anymore. Music provides an escape to a different world, and right now many of us need that more than anything. This is why I have created this mix, in the hope of inspiring feelings of joy and positivity to those who need it most, myself included.
All proceeds from the sale of this single on our Bandcamp page will be donated to “Backline”, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources:

Finally, where there are challenges lie opportunities. While many of our own struggles with mental health have increased this year due to isolation and stress, we have an opportunity now to tackle these issues head on like we never have before. In the coming months, make it a priority to take care of yourself. Confront and defeat those demons, but above all else, be gentle on yourself. Times are hard, and it is okay not to feel okay. Allow yourself the time and space to heal. Find your inner peace. Read a book, write a song, teach yourself that thing you’ve always wanted to learn. The world we once knew and loved will come back one day. Let’s be ready to make the most of it when it comes.
Peace and love,
